One of our favorite spots for a family getaway is Douglas/Saugatuck, Michigan. I think it’s safe to say we’re officially one of the regulars. There is something about spending a few days at the lake house that makes you forget the daily chaos and brings you back to a state of peace. On our most recent trip, I was fortunate enough to have my parents travelling with us. This allowed my husband and me to have a few opportunities for “dates” while our son spent time with his grandparents. Whenever we visit the Saugatuck area, we never miss two of our favorite wineries: Fenn Valley and Hudsonville.
Earlier this month, I decided to cut down on my coffee intake! I literally have stopped drinking coffee throughout the day. Since then, I have had a few of the blended ice coffee drinks from a fast food place but that is about it. When I did drink coffee, I found myself having on average 2-3 cups of coffee a day! I was drinking more and more because I kept feeling tired, exhausted and needed that boost.
Have you ever thought about your favorite form of exercise? For me, I used to love cardio! Originally, I first started doing Tae Bo. I started with the 8 minute Tae Bo video that I downloaded online. A few months after I got married, I discovered Winsor Pilates. I loved both workouts because I didn’t need much equipment. With pilates, I only needed a mat. It was so much fun to learn! I do miss my cardio but these days, I am into walking and jogging on my treadmill.
Honestly, when I think back, I tried to avoid yoga. I avoided it because I thought everyone was jumping on the band wagon and I try not to follow the crowd all the time. Years later, yoga ended up landing in my lap. I received a DVD and I admit, I was curious. I tried the DVD and got dizzy after doing only 20 minutes of it. I thought the poses were long winded and I believe the entire workout was 50+ minutes. At the time, I found the workout to be too slow for me. I was accustomed to doing cardio and pilates type workouts.
Last year around this time, my family and I made a big shift. I was working full time while my husband was working part time and going to school full time. I had just switched jobs and ended up quitting that job. I went back to being a full time stay at home mom, wife and blogger. My husband was able to get full time hours at his job. This was a huge shift for us because I was working full time for over two years while my husband was working part time.

A few weeks ago, the cold was too much! I was sitting in the living room trying to work and my fingers and toes were so cold! I was bundled up in two or three layers of clothing and under two blankets. My fingers could barely move from the cold. Our heater/thermostat only works when the weather is warm. If it is warm outside, the thermostat works perfectly. However, when the weather is super cold outside, the thermostat doesn’t want to reach the temperature we set it to.
