Hop On The Coconut Oil Train

Skinny & Co Coconut Oil and Body ButterShefluential Disclosure

People everywhere are talking about the newest health craze — coconut oil. In fact, there is so much talk about it that it can be hard to take it all in and know where exactly to start learning about and incorporating this product into your life. Skinny & Co.™ 100% Raw Coconut Oil is an amazing product!

Skinny & Company™ has made my personal introduction to the subject of introducing coconut oil into my daily routine pretty easy. There is a lot of helpful information about coconut oil and its benefits available on the company’s website in both written and video form. Definitely worth a look if you are at all interested!

Skinny & Co.™ produces small batch, extra virgin, cold-processed coconut oil, made with nothing but 100% pure, raw, wild-harvested coconuts. No chemicals, fillers, or preservatives. —– Skinny & Co.™

Skinny & Co 100% Raw Coconut Oil

For the biggest health benefit, it is recommended to take it raw and unheated, though some people like to add it to their coffee, tea or use it as an ingredient in smoothies. From what I have read, about a teaspoon per day is generally the amount recommended to see health benefits.

Benefits of Skinny Coconut Oil:

  • Boosts metabolism
  • Supports thyroid function
  • Supplies energy to insulin-resistant cells
  • Helps maintain healthy blood sugar levels
  • Promotes oral health when used in oil pulling ——Skinny & Co.™

You can use it as a moisturizer for your skin, as an ingredient for cooking and baking, and this 100% raw coconut oil can also be used in oil pulling, which is one use for coconut oil that I am hearing more and more about. It’s said that it can reduce harmful substances in your mouth that can cause bad breath, inflamed gums and plaque. I also have heard that oil pulling can help whiten teeth, as well. You will need to ensure that you are using an alkaline oil (such as Skinny & Co.™ 100% Raw Coconut Oil), as other oils can be acidic and can harm tooth enamel and dental work.

Instructions for Oil Pulling using Skinny & Co.™ Coconut Oil:

  • Place one tablespoon of Coconut Oil in your mouth
  • Swish around for 5 to 20 minutes (recommended to start with 5 minutes and build up gradually) as you would a mouthwash, but do not gargle or swallow it
  • Dispose of coconut oil in trash when finished
  • Rinse mouth with warm water and brush teeth as normal
  • Repeat as desired, though it is recommended at least twice weekly

I have tried it and can only go about 3-4 minutes right now before I have to quit due to muscle fatigue. My teeth are pretty white already, so I haven’t noticed anything in that regard, personally. But, I have noticed that my mouth feels fresher longer during the day. I don’t go back to the dentist until November for my next cleaning, but it will be really interesting to see what they say during my checkup because at the last few appointments I’ve had they have mentioned that I should brush more often and consider using a spinbrush to address a very mild gingivitis issue and minimal gum receding they say I have.

Skinny & Co Jojoba Oil and Rose Body Butter

Anyone who reads my posts will probably notice a theme when I write about beauty products, being that I have dry skin. My hands, in particular, due to the use of cleaning agents while doing housework and washing my hands a lot, get very dry. Since coconut oil is supposed to be very moisturizing, I was very excited to try the Skinny & Co.™ Jojoba Oil & Rose Body Butter.

This stuff smells amazing! I love the scent of fresh-cut roses. It just makes me so happy, it’s definitely a mood booster for me. While the body butter is in a solid state in the jar, it begins to liquefy immediately upon scooping it into your hand. It glides on smooth and provides my dry skin with instant moisturization and feels wonderful. A very small amount goes a long way, which I learned the first time I used it. I scooped a rather large amount and ended up feeling as though my hands were literally dripping!

I keep the body butter on my nightstand and a few nights a week I will scoop a finger into the jar and work it into my hands before I go to sleep. The scent is really nice to smell as I drift off to sleep and I wake up to really soft hands.

Other products offered by Skinny & Co.™ include lip balm (which I am really excited to try), a sugar scrub that looks fantastic, facial oil and hand-crafted raw bar soaps, among others.  All of their products are crafted from responsibly sourced, natural ingredients that are so natural you can actually eat any of their products. Their motto is why use anything on your body that you wouldn’t put in it? That’s a paraphrase, not a quote. But, I really like their sentiment!

If you are interested in natural health and beauty products that are produced in an environmentally responsible way, you will definitely want to check this company out. I am very impressed with their products, their motivation, and their product development processes.

  3. Thanks for your kind comments, ladies! Katharine, the body butter IS heavenly. Sharon, I cook with coconut oil sometimes, too. I have one I really like that is garlic flavored — love it, especially with sauteed veggies! 🙂
